Let’s face it. There are thousands of bands who boast that quality, ingenuity, and pure energy are synonymous with their music. A biography has become the most diluted, unsubstantiated propaganda a band will post about themselves. It gives the reader a sensation that the product being pushed was fought over by multiple labels; the next Metallica or Rolling Stones. The truth is simple. This trend has degraded the trust that music fans place in a band’s ability to market itself appropriate to their level. With the advent of “social media gurus,” we’re left with a sour taste in our mouths while being force-fed spam instead of buzz; we’re riddled with redundancy instead of innovation.
Who is Livid?
Livid has cultivated a substantial and faithful mid-western fan base through fabricating a fresh taste founded with vigor, sentiment, and passion. The band’s dedicated followers are a direct reflection of the drive they possess to produce relevant, infectious music. Their remarkable stage presence and years of combined experience produce an exhilarating atmosphere felt every time they take over the show.
Livid is a group of professionals in both music and life. Whether a sales manager, web and graphic designer, firefighter, guitar instructor, or restaurant manager; they’re musicians who, like you, are making it through tough financial times.
In April of 2010, Livid completed their first full length album “Aoaé,” local to Cincinnati, OH with producer Rob Nadler from OLS Studios. The track “Pseudonym” has gained much praise from the local media, finding its home weekly on Cincinnati’s leading rock station, 102.7 WEBN. “More than a Cigarette Burn,” written by songwriter and former rhythm guitarist John Vitellaro, relates heavily to the burdens carried so readily by United States Service-members through searing riffs and melodic undertones.
In August of 2011, Livid traveled to Cleveland, Ohio to record with Roadrunner Records producer, Ben Schigel at Spider Studios. The highly-anticipated EP, titled “101,” is scheduled for release on the 17th of December. The five track EP was made with a new line-up featuring guitarist Todd Brower, and bassist Dave Hathaway. Schigel has has also produced multiple Chimaira albums, Drowning Pool, and was the former front man for Switched.
Jeremy Rosen, (Director, Digital Platforms & Web Sites for Roadrunner Records,) commented positively on the “righteous hook” on Livid’s pre-production version of Forever Forgotten. He also stated about the noticeable improvement from the quality of “Aoaé” to the new tracks in currently in post-production.
CityBeat, the publication on the pulse of all things entertainment, nominated Livid for a Cincinnati Entertainment Award in 2011.
Livid has teamed up with the Keith Maupin and the Yellow Ribbon Support Center to headline the “Rock the Respect” series two years in a row (2011-2012.) Rock the Respect has been Ohio’s biggest local music support to raise money for packaging and shipping costs to pay for care packages for United States Service-members deployed overseas.
In early 2012, Livid will follow in the footsteps of major label bands like Korn. The band is collaborating with a Cincinnati-based technician named Unicron to re-release “Aoaé” as a dubstep/alternative metal album; keeping rock relevant with the younger crowd.
Livid has had the honor and privilege of sharing the stage with astounding artists such as Hurt, Taddy Porter, Days of the New, Flaw, Taproot, Seven Mary Three, Stereomud, The Royce, Hell Within, Sponge, Course of Nature, Mercy Fall, Ugly, and Mark Rizzo of SoulFly.
You may have already heard Livid on Cincinnati Rock station WEBN 102.7, WEBN Fireworks “Riverfest,” Pure Rock 96 sponsored “Taste of Cincinnati” and “Swinefest,” and WXIX-FOX19 Summer Music hosted by KISS FM 107.1.
